The term cloud pos is thrown around a lot these days, but there is much misunderstanding surrounding the concept of the cloud itself. Some people take it to simply mean online; that is, that a cloud based application runs completely online and stores all data on remote servers. This is only half true, however, as the true concept of the cloud has many benefits when compared to web applications that simply run online.
One of the main advantages to using a web application or piece of software that is cloud based is that your data is provided with more security than it would be stored on your own local harddrive or a traditional remote server. This is because the cloud is not a single physical piece of hardware, but rather a collection of servers that host bits and pieces of your data and project them into a theoretical “cloud”, allowing you to access data anytime, anywhere.
